We are excited to host Bronwyn Heatlie of Geraldine for our August exhibition.

Bronwyn is inspired by light and the luminosity of colour and finds the deep-founded emotional connection to that moment when light and colour come together to create something profoundly beautiful. She strives to capture these moments and emotions on canvas.  Her preference is to work on location as much as possible with my medium of choice being either oils or acrylics – although her sketchbooks are filled with pen and ink reference drawings.

She has been painting professionally for the last 25 years and is now painting under her maiden name of Heatlie (previously Shimmin) in memory of her beloved dad.

Bronwyn has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and internationally with the work being held in both private and corporate collections. She holds an Honours Diploma in Arts, is a qualified Golden Artists Programme Educator, designing and delivering art curriculums to the gifted children primary schools programme, and am a founding member of the Geraldine Performance and Arts Academy.  She has taught art to adults both privately and through various organizations for many years and am a long standing art tutor for the Methven Summer School.

Originally from South Africa, her family settled in New Zealand 24 years ago. She and her husband (plus their 3 dogs) now call Southern Canterbury home.  Tucked in between Southern Alps and Pacific Ocen they are surrounded by stunning scenery and skies, a never-ending source of paining inspiration.
